The Start of My Journey with Levels Health and CGMs

March 19, 2024

My path to motherhood began with a 2 years of uncertainty, filled with exploration and learning as I sought to heal my body. About a year and half into my journey, I began working with a functional medicine doctor who helped me find the areas that needed healing. She also shed light on the significance of addressing blood sugar dysregulation. Over the span of seven months, I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to this journey, collaborating closely with the practitioner to understand my body’s needs comprehensively.

While blood sugar dysregulation was not the sole focus of my healing, it was a crucial component. Through dedication and perseverance, I navigated a multifaceted approach to wellness, diving into various aspects of my health. It was through this holistic approach that I gradually regulated my blood sugar levels, employing strategies learned through trial and error.

This adventure gifted me with insights gathered from thorough research and my own experiences. Along the way, I stumbled upon some incredible products and services and learned valuable lessons that have not only improved my personal well-being but also added joy to my life. Reflecting on this journey fills me with gratitude, knowing it has not only helped me heal but also empowered me to support others on their paths to wellness

One discovery on my path to wellness was Levels Health, a company that I had heard about early on in my journey. I’m an avid podcast listener, and one day, while listening to Dr. Mark Hyman’s podcast, Levels Health was featured as a new start-up. The concept of optimizing metabolic health through continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) piqued my interest, and after about a year of contemplation, I decided to take the plunge and join their beta program.

For roughly seven months between 2020-2021, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of CGMs and explore how tracking my blood sugar levels could empower me on my journey to better health.

Here’s why I fell in love with this data-driven approach:

1. Confidence in Food Choices: Understanding how different foods impacted my blood sugar levels provided me with the confidence to make healthier and more informed dietary choices. It was like having a personal nutritionist by my side, guiding me towards optimal eating habits.

2. Real-time Feedback: The real-time data allowed me to witness how various foods affected not just my blood sugar but also my mood and overall well-being. It was like having a constant feedback loop to help me make immediate adjustments.

3. Personalized Insights: Instead of merely glancing at numbers in a generic CGM app, Levels Health provided me with a comprehensive platform where I could track my progress, make notes, and truly understand the intricate details of my metabolic health.

4. Detailed Reports: In addition to real-time insights, I received a weekly email with my glucose scores for the week and a breakdown of which meals were associated with specific blood sugar numbers. This feature offered a comprehensive overview that gave me the knowledge to create a more metabolically friendly meal plan.
